Clever Arnold
Dreadful Floyd and Clever Arnold
Across the battens, they
Hiding out in sun and shadow
Looking out for laziness
They of course are going to beat with the same old shtick
Ford the river in the same damn place
Drop the hammer and a trip to the bathroom quick
Some things never erase.
Beat the boy, his murdered father
Had these feet of clay
Any other one but not her
She can help the days go by
That’s about it – tell me, where is the fun in that?
Not denying is the new denial
No one sees her ‘cause she always pulls her hat
Down below her smiles.
Ach du liebe Zeit! Those pinstripes!
Make a migraine howl! (OWOOOOO!)
It’s so hard to hold someone tight
When they argue loudly.
I expected something more from a calloused hand
Not the slippage of velveteen
No amount of breath can salvage a plastic land
I mean it!
