Handpockets
Would you put yours in mine?
I don’t think I would mind.
We’re blowing in the wind-up
Knocked down and set right back up.
It could fall either way.
You know just what I’ll say.
I swear I won’t get too busy
To let you make me dizzy.
I waited longer and longer
Went way past given to wander
But when I see you I saunter
At least inside where I’m stronger.
You laugh and clouds escape you
You won’t let forces reshape you
You be the air in my spacesuit,
I’ll be the home that awaits you.
In the rainforest of feelings
Beneath the greenest of ceilings
Lie barely covered seedlings
And you may never believe this,
But, given the rain and the sun and…
The canopy cannot contain them
As they push through outstretched limbs
To pierce the sky’s blue skin.
